Ngwenya Glass: Personalised Corporate Gifting
It is the season of giving. A time of celebration and showing appreciation to our clients, friends and family for the year that has passed. Beautifully personalised gift ideas are always on our radar and we’re excited to share some of the amazing offerings from Ngwenya Glass.
Since 1987, Ngwenya Glass has been making glassware in Swaziland/Eswatini from 100% recycled glass. Building upon a reputation of quality, functionality, beauty and social impact. This unique combination of factors make up Ngwenya Glass.
The reason why Ngwenya Glass is so special is that only re-cycled glass is used – mainly old cool drink bottles, and that each and every piece is totally handmade and mouth-blown. People from all over Swaziland/Eswatini collect bottles and are paid per kilo for clean glass. Ngwenya must be the cleanest area because any bottle that catches the children’s attention finds its way into the factory!
Apart from bespoke glassware, Ngwenya also produces personalised items not only in glass but in other materials too. Utilising laser cutting machines, 3D printers, water jet cutters and even an onsite chocolate shop, Ngwenya Glass can produce personalised and unique corporate gifts without outsourcing a single job.
The possibilities are endless. Let’s take a look at their latest commissioned work…
Rogge Cloof, South Africa
A bespoke tray, decanter and thistle glass set was commissioned by Rogge Cloof in South Africa.
Technologies used:
- Traditional Glass Blowing
- Pewter Foundry Casting
- Laser Etching
- Logo Engraving
- 3D Printing
The Board
The boards were handmade in Swaziland by Hannes Hamer and then Rogge Cloof’s logo was laser etched into the board itself.
Cheetah Handles
The handles were designed in a 3D environment on a computer and then 3D printed. The 3D prints were then moulded and cast by Jezz of African Pewter. African Pewter provides another unique service of turning any design into beautiful and functional pewter products.
Glass Engraving
The final touch was to personalise the decanter by engraving just the emblem of Rogge Cloof’s logo on the shoulder of the vessel.
In conclusion, Ngwenya Glass was able to deliver something unique and beautiful. By using all of the technologies that they currently operate on site, the team was also able to deliver a commission that would be almost impossible to fulfil under one company umbrella anywhere else in Africa.
