Step Inside A Luxury Art Deco London Hotel
Situated in London’s Mayfair area, The Beaumont Hotel surprises guests with an impressive interior that oozes a sense of luxury and art deco inspiration.
In an instant, we are transported to a bygone era of the 1920s. A time when glitz and glamour reigned supreme and the Art Deco movement made waves in society. The stunning interior of the Beaumont hotel oozes the charm of this period. It is a grand yet intimate, independent, five-star hotel. Superbly located on a quiet Mayfair square, The Beaumont recaptures the spirit of old-world luxury.
The Beaumont occupies a fine Art Deco building on a quiet garden square, close to the boutiques, galleries and museums of Mayfair, St James’s and the West End.
In 2021, the hotel underwent a gentle refurbishment of its bars and restaurants, which saw the addition of a brand-new lounge and an al fresco dining terrace. This subtle renovation took place under the creative direction of the leading New York-based designer Thierry Despont, adding new layers of comfort and luxury.
The Lounge
The former bar space at the very heart of the hotel has undergone a dramatic transformation to become a relaxed, intimate all-day dining space. It is very much inspired by the 1926 origins of the building. With its bespoke walnut-framed sofas and mahogany tub chairs, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy afternoon tea to live piano music on the baby grand!
The Terrace
This entirely new space offers al fresco drinking and dining for the first time at The Beaumont. It is available on the sheltered outdoor terrace facing Brown Hart Gardens. Here, 1920s-style rattan armchairs and café tables are enfolded by lush greenery. The Terrace serves drinks alongside a light menu and can be covered and heated in colder weather.
The Colony Grill
The most glamorous grill room in town has kept its clubby Twenties New York atmosphere. But now, it has striking new murals and artworks, while its much-loved banquettes have been freshly reupholstered in deep red Italian leather.
The Mayfair Suite
As part of the refurbishment, Thierry Despont has created an entirely new suite on the first floor overlooking Brown Hart Gardens. The Mayfair Suite has the flexibility to be reconfigured with one or two bedrooms and takes its inspiration from the Art Deco style of the hotel. With a warm colour palette and custom-made furniture, it subsequently features a large sitting room, ideal for remote working as well as relaxing at the end of a busy day.
The Lobby
The lobby retains its intimate feel, including its distinctive chequerboard floor and cherrywood panelling. However, Thierry Despont’s redesign softens the floor-to-ceiling windows with gold-on-ivory Pierre Frey curtains. The mahogany-shell sofas have thus been reupholstered in ‘Ellington’, a playful jazz-age velour fabric, accompanied by matching armchairs in honey-coloured chenille and lounge chairs covered in antique leather.
The Spa
With its shimmering black and white marble mosaics intact, the Spa subsequently benefits from the enlargement of the gymnasium. Furthermore, there is an addition of an extra treatment room, taking the total to four, as well as an enhancement of the existing steam room, sauna, cold plunge pool and traditional warmed marble Hamam massage table.
With so much splendour captured inside this grand hotel, it’s no wonder that guests will return time and time again. The Beaumont is a beautiful ode to a past era but very firmly rooted in the present in modern-day London.
