Lacroix Stravaganza | The Latest Collection With Designer’s Guild
Christian Lacroix presents their latest collection in collaboration with Designer’s Guild – LACROIX STRAVAGANZA.
This collection celebrates all Southern cultures and landscapes. From Africa to Florida, from the Amazon to Sicily, from Mexico to Rajasthan, they are so richly intertwined that none of them are truly recognisable.
To celebrate his 30th anniversary with Christian Lacroix Maison, Sacha Walckhoff has imagined an extravagant kaleidoscope of colours, shapes and shimmering materials to which only Christian Lacroix holds the secret.
With its unique mix of patterns, this new season evokes a wide and varied range of stories while affirming its fanciful, singular and eclectic nature, which constitutes the very essence of Christian Lacroix that has been plotting its course for over 35 years.
Let’s take a closer look…
Lanzarote Garden is an exuberant, as if hand-painted, panorama of cactuses blooming in the middle of the midnight desert; its is accompanied by Guatiza, a cotton fabric embellished with large sensual cannibalistic flowers.
The Novafrica Sunrise and Novafrica Sunset panels depict an imaginary, spatial and Baroque Africa, where Kaoscope satin and velvet can display their psychedelic polychromy. A rug, whose design evokes an unknown planet or island, supplements this decorative scheme.
Inhotim Park is a vast landscape of trees where giant swirling leaves are set upon shimmering silk ribbon trunks. Belorizonte velvet, satin and wallpaper accompany this stylised forest clearing.
With Fretwork Garden, reminiscent of an elegant winter garden, climbing bamboo and exotic irises are arranged on a panoramic design, a wallpaper and satiny cotton fabrics.
The Empuria panoramic wallpaper and its matching cotton sateen evoke a forgotten palace where vegetation gradually takes over and adorns the stucco of the past.
Jaipur Stripe is a sheared velvet with colours of spices whose graphic design with an Ikat chevron was inspired by one of the iconic symbols of Maison Lacroix.
Finally, Vallarta, comprising of a cotton fabric and a wallpaper full of poppies and yellow cosmos flowers, is an opulent addition to this decidedly joyful and optimistic collection.
Of Slavic, French, Swiss and African origins, Sacha Walckhoff’s roots are as diverse as his inspirations are manifold. His adventure with Christian Lacroix began in 1992 and has spanned almost three decades, leaving him free to design ready-to-wear and accessories collections for Michel Klein and Kenzo, among others.
His work with the designer naturally led him to take over the Artistic Direction of the Couture House in 2010 and to develop the brand towards the world of decoration and Art de Vivre.
