What interior has left you with a lasting impact?

One particular project that left a lasting impact on me was a renovation of a historic building into a boutique hotel. The transformation was challenging but immensely rewarding. Tell us more about the latest interiors project that you have recently completed?

The latest project I completed, “The SA DÉCOR & DESIGN STAND,” was an exciting opportunity to design an Exhibition Stand for such an Established Brand. The brief was to create a space that would showcase various art forms and the SA Décor & Design Buyer’s Guide Anniversary Issue while offering visitors an immersive and engaging experience. I incorporated clean lines, minimalistic elements, and an emphasis on lighting techniques to provide a neutral backdrop for the Book and Furniture elements to shine. The use of innovative lighting techniques and interactive installations added an extra layer of dynamism to the space.

Quick Questions with Jonathan:

My favourite thing to buy for my home is… unique art pieces that evoke emotions and add personality to the space.

The easiest effective design technique is… the strategic use of lighting to enhance the mood and ambiance of a room and highlight elements and a unique piece in a room.

One thing I never do in an interior is… compromise on quality. It’s essential to invest in durable materials and craftsmanship to ensure the longevity and integrity of the design.

My biggest design mistakes are… rushing the decision-making process and not fully considering the functionality and lifestyle needs of the clients. It’s important to take the time to understand their preferences and requirements to create a space that truly suits them.

My design motto is… “Harmony in Every Detail.” I believe that every element in a space should work together harmoniously, from the overall layout down to the smallest accessory. Attention to detail and a cohesive vision are key to creating a successful and impactful design.
