Matumi is fairly fast-growing evergreen tree that grows to a hight of 41m. The trunk can reach 2.06m in diameter which makes it ideal for large live-edge table slabs.

It is a hard, heavy, durable wood with colour ranging from yellow to light brown and is frequently blotched. The bark is grey brown in colour and although it breaks up into irregular ridges it does not peel off which adds plenty of character to the slabs.
