Potchefstroom Academy: Bright sparks.

Potchefstroom Academy’s creative second-year Interior Design students recently wrapped up an inspiring project. The brief: to design unique light fixtures using recycled materials.

From plastic bottles to old metal scraps, the students transformed everyday waste into stunning pieces of art. Let’s take a closer look at their amazing work and see how they’re positively impacting the environment, one fixture at a time.

Presented by the faculty of digital media and design, Potchefstroom Academy’s Interior Design course is ideal for anyone wanting to learn all there is to know about the discipline, from the history of interior design and the science of colour to the principles of design and styling classes, the course covers all aspects of decorating.

“In today’s world, where individuality and unique design are highly valued, interior decorators play a crucial role in making spaces not just beautiful, but also functional,” says the university. “Interior decorating is more than just arranging furniture and choosing colours. It’s a dynamic and rapidly evolving field that combines art, design, and practicality to enhance the functionality, comfort, and aesthetics of residential interior spaces. At Potchefstroom Academy, we understand the immense potential of this industry and are committed to equipping you with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in it.”

Those interested in pursuing interior decorating as a career or those who simply want to learn more about the subject to decorate their own homes with panache can apply for the course now.

The Higher Certificate in Interior Design and Decorating is a two-year, part-time correspondence course comprising twenty modules. Continuous assessment of student progress ensures that, upon completing their studies, they are expected to be fully competent to play a productive and profitable role in the industry. The program is designed to provide readily available student assistance from on-campus lecturers via an online tutoring platform.
