Victorian Bathrooms: La Residence Villa, Franschhoek

Tucked away in the breathtaking Franschhoek Valley, Franschhoek House at La Residence offers an exclusive retreat defined by exceptional design and natural beauty.

Situated on the 30-acre, multi-award-winning La Residence Estate, this private villa is a sanctuary of tranquillity, embraced by panoramic vineyard vistas and majestic mountain landscapes.

Built around a 200-year-old oak tree in the central courtyard, the property features six elegantly appointed suites, each designed with a unique blend of vintage French charm and global influences, carefully curated by co-owner Liz Biden.

La Residence Villa, Franschhoek

A fusion of masterful design and tranquility

Each suite is a sanctuary designed with both beauty and comfort in mind. From the meticulously chosen antiques and vibrant, eclectic colour palettes to the bespoke, hand-crafted furniture, every element of the interior reflects the Biden family’s sophisticated yet welcoming design philosophy. This careful balance of influences from French, African, and Indian aesthetics infuses the property with an inviting warmth.

Through the careful integration of imported silks, hand-embroidered fabrics, local tapestries and signature art pieces, the rooms evoke a sense of both familiarity and fantasy. The bathrooms are no exception. With their luxurious finishes and handpicked details, they offer a retreat where guests can unwind and rejuvenate, surrounded by comfort and craftsmanship.

An enduring relationship

The Royal Portfolio, which includes the six star Silo Hotel in Cape Town’s Waterfront precinct, has opted to continue this enduring relationship and we are truly honoured that Liz has once again selected bathroomware from Victorian Bathrooms.

Each en-suite features the Britannia range of tapware, exclusive to Victorian Bathrooms, adding a regal touch with bath mixers, shower mixers with diverters and hand showers, and classic Britannia spouts with levered stop-taps.

At the heart of the Britannia Collection lies an extensive array of tapware that seamlessly integrates with both contemporary and classic design sensibilities. Whether updating a grand master bath or creating an intimate powder room, the collection offers unparalleled flexibility, ensuring that each piece contributes to the overall harmony of the design.

Not only do these elegant pieces contribute to the overall aesthetic of this impressive villa, but their durability and functionality also provide an exceptional guest experience.

A concert of colour

The colour palette for the bespoke baths at Franschhoek House was carefully selected to match the suites’ distinctive personalities and bold interior themes. By offering a wide range of  colour options, including high gloss and metallic finishes, Victorian Bathrooms has allowed the villa to explore a variety of possibilities that align with each suite’s decor.

Whether in sophisticated high-gloss primary shades or shimmering metallics, these baths become a striking focal point of the bathroom, complementing the curated artworks, textiles, and furnishings.

These finishes can also include options such as baths on feet with a variety of styles of feet in white, brass or polished aluminium. There are also baths in skirts, which can also be ordered a range of bespoke finishes like classic white, copper, or aged brass, allowing for further customisation to suit the specific needs and aesthetic preferences of any project.

A Legacy of Design Excellence and Hospitality

More than just a place to stay, Franschhoek House is a celebration of timeless elegance and exceptional craftsmanship, inviting guests to indulge in an atmosphere where every detail has been thoughtfully considered to provide the ultimate in comfort, style, and serenity. Once again Liz has shown her acumen and flair for understated luxury and hospitality in her latest Royal Portfolio creation.
