Welcome To Szymanowskiego: Unique Apartment with Open Bathroom-Bedroom Solution

Welcome to Szymanowskiego – a unique and extremely stylish apartment in the heart of the Oliwa district in Gdańsk, Poland. The luxurious renovation project in the eponymous Szymanowskiego Street was designed and realized by the architectural duo Raca Architekci. What stands out most is that this modern apartment boasts an open bathroom-bedroom solution for optimum use of space.

Over a floor space of 79 m2 , designers have created a haven in the midst of the hubbub of Gdańsk. The developer asked for an optimum layout and intelligent storage solutions combined with a stylish and modern design. The entrance area was designed without a corridor or hallway to increase the size of the room and enhance comfort. The intelligent layout of the living room, combined bedroom-bathroom area, and music room create the optimum balance between a place of retreat and a spacious living area.

Design with depth

On entering the apartment, a wide range of compositions of geometric forms and natural materials reveal themselves: different types of wood, natural stone, and velour lend a sense of depth to the interior. Despite the minimalistic design, the multifaceted interior creates tactile and visual impressions thanks to varying wood grains and a range of surfaces. Last but not least, the muted nuances of the color palette underpin the calm overall image: warm gray tones, dark petrol accentuated with gold and matt black form recurrent design elements in combination with warm wooden tones.

The heart of the apartment is the spacious main room, which contains the living/dining area and the kitchen. Kitchen furniture featuring warm gray areas was crowned with a worktop made from fine Bardiglio marble to create the kitchen island. The kitchen is complemented with contrasting golden accessories which are reminiscent of pieces of jewelry. The remaining area of the main room comprises the dining and living area which – thanks to large window fronts – let in abundant natural daylight and offer a breathtaking view of the historical Strzyże district. Despite the open design, high-quality petrol-colored velour drapes guarantee privacy. Multiple practical built-in closets ensure tidiness living space and bring calm and elegance to the whole apartment.

The perfect place to relax

The sophisticated washing area draws the gaze, consisting of a natural stone console with a molded rear panel and the elegant, delicate above-counter basin from Duravit’s Luv range – a sympathetic ensemble that blends excellently into the overall interior. The same oval design language is reflected in the bathroom mirror, which forms a harmonic contrast to the paneled wooden wall. Despite restricted space, an exclusive bathroom has been created that leaves nothing to be desired.
