Culture Collection: Masai Warriors

This series is a celebration of the mysterious and forgotten ethnic cultures around Kenya.

The Culture of Africa is varied and manifold, consisting of a mixture of countries with various tribes that each have their unique characteristic from the continent of Africa. African Culture is rich and very diverse, yet certain aspects unite this huge continent.

“In Africa they say when an old man dies, it’s a library burning. Cultures may fall into oblivion without a trace and become a silent past. I want to preserve the interesting and visually fascinating ancient traditions by imprinting them on paper.”

This series is a celebration of the beautiful and mystical cattle of Africa, symbols of peace and prosperity. Nguni cattle have always been and will continue to be, the symbol of peace, spirituality and prosperity in Africa.

“I was drawn to these beautiful multi-coloured cattle as a young girl. Having spent a lot of time on our family farm in the Drakensberg mountains, I would watch these beautiful creatures in awe while they grazed along the rolling hills.”

“What attracts me to Nguni’s is the strength in their stance and posture, as well as their earthy colours and patterns that are undeniably African.”

“I find the beauty of nature so captivating, the simplistic designs, patterns and exquisite beauty of nature. I hope my images help to bring consciousness to humanity, to find an appreciation for the natural world.”

Step behind the lens of this talented Cape Town-based photographer as she takes us on a discovery of Africa’s beauty. “I have travelled extensively throughout Africa documenting my journey through wild places and creating artworks as well as shooting content for lodges, interiors, brands and lifestyles.
