Summer Outdoor Living A seaside picnic starts off our summer display!

Here are Hooga Homes tips on how to elevate your seaside picnic to ensure comfort and style:

Firstly use a large rug for a surface area to avoid sand and sharp objects causing discomfort.

Then add some pillows, our Turmeric yellow hand-dyed scatters are so fresh and fun for summer.

Baskets are perfect for carrying goods and then for display as they look natural. I placed a few artificial plants in mine for some added greenery!

What is a picnic without snacks? Choose finger foods which can be unpacked onto platters for easy picking. The Hooga Homes ceramic platters are craftily made with a basket weave pattern and color to fit in with the outdoors. Add a scented candle or incense burner for an aromatic atmosphere. Bring additional blankets and a flask of a hot drink to ensure your picnic can last into the sunset!

Create an outdoor living space at home by building a deck in the garden, adding a fire pit and seating ensures a cozy place to relax and connect with friends and family. The featured deck was built and designed by Donovan Marincowits

Use  solar lighting which turns on all by itself as the light fades into the night. Having an organized outdoor area which refrains from too much back and forth from the home is key. Store your blankets and cushions in a watertight storage container on the deck. Keep drinks in a cool box and rubbish easily discardable with an outdoor bin.   For waste management,  have a combustible bin for cardboard or paper garbage to fuel your fire.    Allow your garden and views to be the star and do not over decorate an outdoor area.  If decorations are required, use functional decor like wind chimes, bird feeders and hanging planters.

What are the right colors to bring into your outdoors?

Enhance what you see:  blue for ocean and sky, green for gardens, yellow for sun and charcoal or brown for mountains.  Depending on your outdoors you can choose a pattern to relate, like floral, tropical, jungle and coral reef. I would also choose solid colors too as the outdoors can be very busy on the eye already.   Add scented candles and incense burners to create atmosphere. Set up a drinks station and some music and you’re all set for summer nights in the garden!
