Step Inside Tropical Hotel, St Barth

Nestled in the heart of St. John’s Bay, on the most exclusive island in the Caribbean, Le Tropical Hotel 5*, a boutique hotel unlike any other, is an exquisite invitation to hedonism between jovial gastronomy, a moment of refined relaxation, a relaxed atmosphere and a party with friends. The decor comes to life by the hand of interior designer Oscar Lucien Ono.

Natural materials, such as palm and rattan, are enhanced by more sophisticated touches of aged metal and combined with objects spanning different eras, including 1950s-style ceramic vases. This fusion of styles reinforces the uniqueness of this sophisticated establishment and its new chic yet informal influences, eliciting both the French Riviera and the Palm Springs of the mid-20th century.

Now a 5* boutique hotel, this emblematic property – the second-ever hotel built on St. Barth – is as enticing as it is indulgent. The dream-like sumptuousness of the architecture and gardens offer guests precious moments of relaxation in a cosy and comfortable atmosphere.

With a unique artistic and cultural signature, the Tropical Hôtel, St Barth welcomes and brings together artists from a rich and varied universe in its own environment. Exhibitions, live concerts or broadcast via a dedicated platform… So many exclusive events organised at different times of the year that will make the establishment a highly desirable place of expression.

The Great Outdoors

Nature is Oscar Lucien Ono’s primary source of inspiration, touches of which can be found throughout the hotel. Like a colourful and lush oasis, it affords both freshness and intimacy in the various spaces of the restaurant, bar, rooms and suites.

Communicating through verandas typical of Caribbean architecture, these spaces are centred around one main patio, the perfect
place for relaxing and meeting friends old and new.

Under the open sky or under a scalloped fabric canopy, guests at the Tropical Hotel, St. Barth can relax and enjoy a signature
cocktail or a fresh fruit-based detox juice, comfortably seated on the long benches or wrought iron chairs whose pastel pink and almond green colours induce a feeling of well-being.

At nightfall, under the subdued lighting of garlands and suspensions made of woven straw and trimmings, the festive spirit takes over the place. On the stage, live concerts and DJ sets create the ambiance for the evening.

Dreaming of a Getaway

An intimate address, the Tropical Hôtel, St. Barth has a welcoming feel with its 24 rooms and suites spread over two levels
between the ground and first floors; some offering an idyllic view of the turquoise Caribbean Sea, while others benefit from direct contact with the tropical vegetation outside.

Comfortable and functional, most of the rooms can be adapted to the specific needs of each guest. For example, the Penthouse
– a combination of three rooms – offers a surface area of 104m2 for a total capacity of 6 people, plus a 132m2 patio, a unique offering in St. Barth. The hotel also offers 4 exceptional suites that have access to an exclusive swimming pool from their private terrace.

Inside, Oscar Lucien Ono continues his interpretation of the Garden of Eden, notably through a selection of fabrics and wallpapers featuring exotic motifs, such as the renowned Salengro model by Manuel Canovas, whose colour schemes have been specially tailored to the hotel.

Embellished with precious golden finishes, natural elements of wood, straw and bamboo are combined with other materials such as ceramics, creating a multiinspirational dialogue around the mythical destinations of Miami, Palm Springs and the French Riviera.

The custom-made headboards render each room unique and original. Made of different materials, they harmonise
and compliment the palette of colours, expressed here in subtle shades of green, yellow, blue and pink, further emphasizing the sense of comfort and luxury.

In a boudoir-style mood, the bathrooms are decorated with fluted wooden washbasin and mirrors with gently rounded lines. They come equipped with spacious Italianstyle showers in grey-veined white marble and on the walls, glazed ceramic fish light-heartedly echo the island’s coastal traditions.

The rooms and suites are adjoined by private terraces that allow guests to bask in the tropical sunshine or cool off in the
fresh sea breeze. At any time of the day, guests can unwind and enjoy a quiet meal.

Delightfully Delicious

The restaurant adopts the same mood as the adjoining patio. On a mural painted by Raphaël Schmitt, different plant species are artistically depicted, blurring the line between the interior and exterior. Like a large open house, the room is naturally divided into several spaces clustered around a central bar where hotel guests can sample the mixologist’s selection of cocktails and mocktails throughout the day.

In the same convivial atmosphere, the restaurant receives its guests for dinner under the imposing colonial-style wooden
roof, where tables of different sizes accommodate both couples and groups. All that remains is to taste the chef’s
specialities with delicate combinations of local and Mediterranean flavours, including black risotto with scallops and
chorizo, linguine with caviar and grilled lobster. For dessert, those with a sweet tooth will be tempted by the rum baba or the homemade ice creams and sorbets.
