DDL: 4 Home Decor Trends To Ring In 2023

As we race toward the end of another year, we’re eagerly anticipating a shift in the world of interior design as the seasons evolve. Welcoming in the new and saying goodbye to the old, here are some of the top home decor trends we’re excited about for the upcoming seasons…

Home Retreat – Wanderlust Interiors

When the world stood still. This is the time in history we will remember as a period where travel stopped and everyone just stayed at home. For many of us, it got us rethinking our everyday spaces, wanting to reinvent our interiors and introduce that much-missed idea of wanderlust at home.

Step in… the home retreat as a top trend. Instead of travelling abroad for a dose of escapism, it’s as easy as walking into a room. This design trend is about bringing the world into your own space. So if you want to feel like you’re in a villa in Tuscany, then design your room as such!

After nearly two years of travel being off the table, it’s understandable that a sense of wanderlust has entered the chat. Naturally, bright light, warm wood tones are in! Creating a zen-like interior that feels like a vacation is the aim here. Add airy linen furniture to help sell the vision of resort life. It can really be as simple as swapping out heavy textiles for light, airy finishes that enhance those holiday vibes at home!

Sensational Stone

Stone is a wonderfully versatile material in home design. From floors to backsplashes, countertops and more! And boy, are we spoiled for choice! The trendsetters are predicting that stone will definitely be a recurring theme into next year, with extra emphasis on using the raw material in unexpected tones and in unexpected ways.

What does this mean? Well, we’re thinking of unconventional uses around the home. So, instead of opting for beige travertine, perhaps be bold with colour options!  “It’s about artful marble”, say the professionals. Think coral-coloured marble and interesting statement stone. These interior moments are an opportunity to let the full glory of the stone shine through.

Opulence

Go big or go home. Bigger, grander, more luxurious. These are the buzzwords we’re feeling for the seasons ahead. Incorporate jewel tones and rich colours to achieve this trend at home. Romantic colourways can set the tone in your room, and incorporate textures that sparkle and shine for a full dose of opulence! Some blame it on minimalist fatigue and a move away from the idea that less is more. This trend leans to the opposite side of the equation with glamour as the order of the day!

Lighting is a big deal!

The digital meeting revolution is far from over, and all it took was one video call to realise that the right lighting can make or break the whole experience. We reckon lighting is definitely having a moment and we’re loving the outcome!

Lighting can set the mood of an entire design. This means, that no matter how good your design may be, without the right lighting, your whole room can appear flat and dull. A beautiful glow from a sculptural light can therefore really make a space! It’s the wow factor we all need and love!”

From contemporary brutalist chandeliers to Danish-inspired wood lamps, they’ve all been favourites within design circles as of late. However, we’re also feeling soft emotive lighting that can enhance your room with ease!
