Exciting New Features At Decorex Joburg
Minimalist interiors, bold wallpapers, dried botanics and reinvented archways… Decorex Joburg is ready to introduce visitors to all the latest trends set to take over home and office interiors across the city.
Through its dynamic features’ programme, Decorex Joburg – taking place at the Gallagher Convention Centre from 7 to 11 August – is able to showcase these (and many more) trends as a way to inspire that inner designer!
“Bringing in the show’s 2019 theme, ‘Designing for Africa – feels like home’, Joburg’s boldest designers will bring the latest décor trends to life across a number of exciting new installations,” explained Sian Cullingworth, Portfolio Director at Reed Exhibitions. “While researching trends online provides a sense of the interior impact, we believe that being able to interact with the trends in a real-world setting is the most inspiring way to discover what will work in different spaces. Particularly when it’s portrayed through the eyes of Joburg’s dynamic creatives!”
New features to inspire
It’s time to take an inter-continental stroll through global trends in Decorex International as pre-eminent designers curate room settings in Hong Kong, Paris, New York and Johannesburg. Then 6 of the city’s most influential design talents will get an expressive platform in the Designer Pavilion, showcasing the African-inspired theme using local creations and style. Décor inspiration continues in the Fabric Trend Bar where visitors can sip on a cocktail while browsing high-end textiles from leading interior fabric suppliers.
Then for something completely unique, Decorex Joburg has introduced the Instudio Trend Theatre by ABSA. This CPD-accredited, free-flow forum will see industry experts from business, design and finance sharing innovative ways to commercialise and expand business opportunities. Adding to this feature is 2nd Skin presented by Inscape Education Group – a must-see fashion show that presents fashion items created from construction materials.

Combining design, cooking and comedy is this year’s deliciously amusing Jacobs Gourmet Cooking Theatre. Audiences will be kept entertained by the comedic culinary stylings of leading South African chef, MasterChef judge and the Ultimate Braai Master – Pete Goffe Wood – and Celebrity MasterChef winner and one of South Africa’s funniest comedians – Chris Forrest – as they share the dish on their favourite Jacobs recipes.
