LVT to the Rescue with Traviata Flooring
Traviata Floorings family of “rigid core” interlocking LVT flooring ranges are firmly entrenched in major brands in the hospitality, retail and commercial sectors. Their key attributes of stability, variety, acoustics, air quality and efficiency have also seen them find a lot of favour in the residential market.
The nature of the “rigid core” boards allows this type of flooring to be equally suited to both new and refurbishment projects. Because of the rigidity of the core board these LVT’s can be laid directly over a multitude of existing floors such as tiles, or timber. This can be purely for aesthetic reasons or sometimes to solve an underlying problem in the existing floor.
France Flooring, a Traviata approved installer in KZN, was recently called on to find a solution to one such problem floor in Durban North. Faced with a natural timber floor that was under pressure and was “popping”, they proposed a solution using the Traviloc XL-RCB range.
Raised moisture levels were contributing to the problem so there was work to be done. New air-vents were installed throughout the raised floor area to ensure adequate air flow (existing air-vents had been blocked off by building alterations). Expansion gaps were cut where the timber was under pressure and surface repairs were made to ensure an acceptable level surface throughout.
Traviloc XL-RCB was then laid over the existing timber floor and the result was spectacular. The client was extremely happy with their floor and France Flooring has already had referral work as a result of this project.
Achieving a makeover like this without the problems of noise, dust, rubble removal and disruption is a huge bonus! Architects and interior designers are also capitalising on this attribute of “rigid core” LVT’s and are successfully converting retail and hospitality spaces quite literally overnight. For these clients downtime is income lost so the LVT’s are a great solution.
