Milan Design Week: A Dialogue Between Design and Cinema

Roche Bobois celebrates the fusion of design and cinema at Milan Design Week 2025 with a collaboration paying tribute to Spanish director Pedro Almodovar and a capsule collection by his muse Rossy de Palma.

An iconic filmmaker with a flamboyant visual universe, Pedro Almod6var has marked generations with his films, where vibrant colors, shapes and sets play a central raie. From fiery reds to deep blues, each work is staged in such a way that the set design acts as a fully fledged character.

Colour is a common language shared by Pedro Almodovar and Roche Bobois: for the film director and brand alike, it plays a vital role in design and emotion. Roche Bobois has always considered colour an essential component of design, much like the artist, who uses it to structure and enhance his visual narratives.

This unprecedented collaboration, for bath Pedro Almodovar and Roche Bobois, stands out not only for its innovative nature, but also for the legitimacy of this natural connection, founded on a shared passion for colour.

Anecdotally, the first contact between the two – which led to this collaboration – occurred in the context of the director’s most recent film, The Room Next Door, starring Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton. This winner of the Golden Lion award at the Venice film festival features several decorative pieces by Roche Bobois.

A tribute to Pedro Almodovar’s work

On the one hand, with the Lounge sofa, designed by Hans Hopfer and reissued specially for this occasion. lt becomes a symbol tracing the director’s graphie and aesthetic universe. The sofa features iconic images and posters of his films, creating a work at the crossroads of art and design, limited to 50 pieces, numbered and signed by Pedro Almodovar.

On the other hand, with furniture and decorative accessories inspired by the director’s universe.

• The Bubble in technicolour

Designed by Sacha Lakic, Roche Bobois’s iconic sofa takes on four new colours inspired by the director’s color palette and handpicked by him. This vibrant tribute celebrates this design icon’s 10th anniversary.

• A capsule collection by Rossy de Palma

The director’s long-standing muse and accomplice, Rossy de Palma, adds her distinctive, bold touch by designing an exclusive capsule collection that reflects her style and tremendous creative energy.

Emotion and Design Come Together

Pedro Almodovar, a world-renowned artist, has always nurtured a deep connection to France. He admires the country’s efforts to protect its heritage and promote its know-how, in particular with regard to cinematic creation.

This unprecedented collaboration is a perfect illustration of Roche Bobois’s commitment to foster ties between various creative disciplines, exploring the bridges between design, cinema, and the French art de vivre.

This exceptional collaboration will be showcased at Milan Design Week 2025.
