Roche Bobois Introduce New Partnership with Chinese Designer Jiang Qiong Er
Roche Bobois is very thrilled to introduce a new partnership with the Chinese designer Jiang Qiong Er with her collection “Bamboo Mood” presented during Milan Design Week 2024 in April.
Qiong Er Jiang
Qiong Er Jiang, founder of lifestyle brand SHANG XIA, is an internationally renowned designer.
After many years studying in Europe, she brings a cosmopolitan approach and multi-cultural experience to her designs. From an early age, Jiang Qiong Er received training under renowned Chinese art masters, including Cheng Shi Fa for ink and brush painting and Han Tian Heng for calligraphy. She pursued her passion for art and design by earning a degree from Shanghai’s esteemed Tong Ji University. She has nurtured her talent as an artist, showcasing her work in exhibitions spanning from Geneva to Paris, Shanghai and San Diego driven by her diverse creative interests.
As artistic director and CEO of SHANG XIA, she combines traditional crafts with contemporary design. Her works received wide acclaim and distinguished design awards at national and international level, being collected by world-class museums like British Museum, Musée Guimet and Musée des Arts Décoratifs.
In a significant career milestone, she co-founded the luxury brand Shang Xia with Hermès in 2009 also playing a role as the Creative Director. This endeavour allowed her to apply her artistic vision and entrepreneurial acumen, establishing herself as a leading figure in the intersection of art, design, and entrepreneurship.
In 2011, Forbes named Qiong Er Jiang as one of the 25 most influential Chinese in “Global Fashion and Lifestyle”. Furthermore, she was honoured several times in recognition of her contribution to the cultural exchange between China and France.
Exclusive Collection for Roche Bobois
The Bamboo Mood collection in partnership with French Luxury company Roche Bobois, embodies the essence of bamboo which symbolizes integrity, resilience, simplicity and harmony in Chinese culture. Jiang Qiong Er reinterprets these values poetically, blending innovation with elegance across various pieces including sofas, screens, consoles, cocktail tables, rugs and ceramics.
Additionally, two exclusive pieces – a meditation seat and a cocktail table – have been specially crafted in collaboration with Roche Bobois for the Gardiens du Temps (Guardians of Time) exhibition.
Roche Bobois emphasizes its commitment to design rooted in brand values and heritage, showcasing collaborations with diverse creative talents. Their French Art de Vivre ethos embodies discovery and dialogue, integral to their approach. Collaborating with Jiang Qiong Er, a contemporary designer drawing from Chinese arts and culture, marks an extraordinary creative journey.
