Generally, people outside of the building industry don’t know the process of installing stone countertops. Once you’ve chosen your stone material, it needs to be templated, cut, and installed by an expert. This process is called fabrication. Caesarstone is here to explain what you need to do to ensure your countertop installation goes smoothly. Here are the steps you’ll need to follow for a seamless fabrication process…

STEP 1: View your Caesarstone slab in person

Firstly, you need to choose the design and colour of your slab from our Caesarstone Collections. Many of our designs have organic movement so it’s recommended to visit the warehouse and view your desired slab in person. We have Caesarstone branches all over the country. Once you’ve made your specific choice, the sales consultant will record the slab’s serial number and reserve it for your design project. First step of the fabrication process – complete!

STEP 2: Select your fabricator

Always use a reputable fabricator. Caesarstone has a list of trustworthy and skilled fabricators that we can refer you to. Ensure the fabricator you hire is knowledgeable and experienced with quartz surfaces specifically as it needs to be cut using a special blade. Did you know, that most technical issues we experience with stone countertops are based on installation techniques, which are not covered by warranty. So always make sure you do a reference check on your chosen fabricator. It is also advised to get quotes from multiple fabricators so you can make an informed decision. STEP 3: The fabrication process

Firstly, the fabricator will come to your home to template your space. They will take specific measurements, taking appliances into account as well as your surface, overhang, and edge selections, creating a template for the fabricator and installer. The template is a detailed diagram with precise measurements for cutting and each slab’s location for installation. Caesarstone is sold in large slabs and for larger projects, more than one slab may be needed.

Next, with a proper template made, your chosen fabricator will optimise slab measurements to work out how many slabs you will need. Now the fabrication process will begin – they’ll cut the Caesarstone slabs with the precise measurements they’ve received, followed on by a polish and finish of the edges.

Finally, with each slab precisely cut for the space and project, the installer can begin their work puzzling each piece together. They will ensure the stove top, sink and faucet pilot holes have been cut accurately and will fill any voids to level the surface and reduce vibration. Once a proper fit is confirmed, your Caesarstone countertops will be installed directly on top of the cabinetry and can be used immediately after installation. The fabrication process is actually not so complicated after all!

STEP 4: Lifetime residential warranty

Once installed, it’s up to you as the homeowner to register your new Caesarstone countertop for its Lifetime Residential Warranty. To do this, you need the serial number and batch number of your specific slab that you chose in the warehouse from your fabricator. Not only is this needed to register for your warranty, but it’s also the only way to assure that you’re installing genuine Caesarstone – and not a fake. Every Caesarstone slab is engineered to retain its functionality and beauty, giving you pleasure for many years to come.

1. Optimisation: Remember that your fabricator optimises the slabs during the fabrication process so that you get the most out of it. Find out what the off-cut sizes are and see where else in your home you can use it.

2. Textures + veining: If you have chosen a slab that has an organic texture or veining, make sure you go and go have a look at it in person and tell your fabricator what particular part of the slab you want to use so that you get the look you’re after.

3. One slab = one life: Basically, what this means is that you should choose a stone that has a lifetime warranty. That way you make an initial investment up front and it’s something that will last you a full lifetime.
