Victoria + Albert: Quality Craftsmanship
Synonymous with timeless elegance and the highest-quality craftsmanship, it is no surprise that Babylonstoren, a luxury guest farm in the Cape Winelands built on a rich tradition of syle under editor, designer and owner Karen Roos, chose its bathroom ware, it chose Victoria + Albert.
With a passion for baths and bathing, the purveyors of fine baths, basins, taps, washstands and accessories, in contemporary and traditional styles, has a global reputation for creating the most luxurious freestanding bathroom ware.
“Babylonstoren is one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms in South Africa, offering unique accommodation alongside a unique food and wine offering,” explains Victoria + Albert.
“In keeping with the history of the building, the signature look at Babylonstoren remains whitewashed walls of thick stone and brick, with ornate gables and thatched roofs. But there are touches of contemporary design, too. The result is a modern yet authentic farm hotel, steeped in both history and stylish design.
“The traditional Cheshire freestanding bath has been specified in a number of rooms and suites at Babylonstoren, and is perfectly in keeping with the architectural style of the farm and the luxury on offer.”
A deep Victorian double-ended claw-foot bath with a classic roll top, the Cheshire was the perfect choice to infuse the bathrooms with an added touch of luxury and style.
While Babylonstoren chose classic white tubs in line with its design aesthetic, Victoria + Albert clients can also choose a custom colour for their tub thanks to a unique partnership with leading interiors magazine, Wallpaper.
“Three special palettes have been prepared by the editorial team to excite and inspire,” explains Victoria + Albert, adding that each “takes colours from the RAL range, and presents a vibrant and original colour scheme for a bathroom”, offering 199 colour finishes to choose from in total.
