Plascon House Tour: Loft Living in Amsterdam
At first appearance, it is hard to believe that this double volume space is actually a home and not an upmarket restaurant in a trendy neighbourhood. The Industrial design gives it a raw edge that is very much in fashion at present. Located in the Jordaan district of Amsterdam, this extraordinary place is (you guessed it), a former warehouse, and has been rehabilitated into an exquisite family loft by its owner Marius Haverkamp, who is also a building contractor and interior designer.
A stylish retreat located on a quaint canal in the beautiful city of the Netherlands, this home speaks to the Industrialist in all of us with its edgy contemporary layout that we so adore! With wide open spaces, raw brick walls, aluminium and metal finishes throughout, and an incoporation of all the finer design details that hint at a rustic casual sort of elegance, this home comes alive in Industrial chic beauty and unrefined luxury loft living. The kitchen is an entertainer’s delight. Raw wooden cabinet doors, perfectly paired with metal countertops and oversized industrial-styled extractor fans, make this the kitchen to rival all industrial home kitchens! We love the open-planned space and use of a stunning feature chandelier in this area. Not to mention an entire wall of windows, so beautifully connecting this raw, edgy environment to the natural wonder of the outdoors. The outdoor area of itself is exquisite – like a fully enclosed greenhouse it offers an escape from the harsh interior elements that are used throughout the home. However, here indoor and outdoor space merge together beautifully, with windows that work just as wonderfully to peer inside, as they do to bring the exterior indoors! The living room also emits a definite rustic charm, with moodier tones that create a more laid-back casual feel. Here softer textures add comfort and style with a cosy sofa and plush underfoot rug to soften the look of the space. Our impression? With designer homes like this one, we think Industrial design is here to stay! Contact: Plascon Via
