Corobrik Celebrates Excellence at the 2026 SAIA Awards

Corobrik proudly joined the South African Institute of Architects (SAIA) in celebrating some of the country’s most outstanding architectural achievements at the prestigious 2026 SAIA Awards of Excellence.

For more than 45 years, Corobrik has been proud to support the architectural profession. Recognising and celebrating quality architecture is a natural extension of that commitment, particularly at a time when thoughtful design plays such an important role in shaping South Africa’s built environment.

The awards evening showcased some of the finest examples of contemporary South African architecture, highlighting projects that demonstrate excellence in design, innovation, sustainability and craftsmanship. Corobrik extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and finalists whose work continues to elevate the standard of architecture across the country.

This year also marked an important milestone with the introduction of the Corobrik Brick Award, a new category created to recognise exceptional projects that showcase the innovative and creative use of face brick and clay paving. The award celebrates the enduring versatility, beauty and sustainability of clay products in contemporary architecture.

The first-ever recipient of the Corobrik Brick Award was Thomas Leach Architects for their outstanding project, House Clovelly. The project was selected for its thoughtful design, exceptional execution and inspiring use of clay face brick, demonstrating how traditional building materials can be reimagined in innovative ways to create architecture of lasting value.

The introduction of the award further strengthened Corobrik’s commitment to celebrating excellence showcased at the 2026 SAIA Awards of Excellence and recognising the role that clay products continue to play in contemporary architecture.
