100% Design Africa 2026 at Decorex Joburg: Discover the Best of Contemporary African Design
10 by 10
As one of the continent’s leading platforms for contemporary design, 100% Design Africa has spent more than two decades championing the designers, makers, and creative thinkers shaping Africa’s design story. Returning to Decorex Joburg from 30 July to 2 August 2026, this year’s edition takes over an entire floor of the Sandton Convention Centre, bringing together established brands, emerging talent, and thought-provoking installations in a celebration of African creativity.
More than an exhibition, 100% Design Africa offers a snapshot of where design is heading. Across the floor, visitors can explore beautifully crafted furniture, lighting, textiles, ceramics, and objects alongside immersive spaces that examine the relationship between design, culture, and everyday living.
Among this year’s highlights is The Collector’s Room by Russell Kaplan Auctioneers, an exhibition celebrating iconic furniture, artworks, and objects from the past century, while 100% Local brings together some of South Africa’s leading designers, including Louw Roets, Stripped Collective, uMugqa Studio, Woodbender, and Rialheim, exploring what gives local design its distinctive identity without reducing it to a single aesthetic.

The exhibition also shines a spotlight on the next generation of creatives. Through 100% Fresh, students and emerging designers from Tshwane University of Technology and Greenside Design Centre respond to this year’s theme, The Soft Life, while the finalists of the Ventures Foundation by Sanlam Private Wealth programme unveil their completed prototypes. Greenside Design Centre also introduces Plotville, a new project exploring Johannesburg’s emerging creative communities.
Lighting takes centre stage in FloodLight, a new installation developed with spatial lighting designer Martin Döller of One to One. Bringing together work from leading South African lighting studios, the exhibition explores how light, shadow, and atmosphere shape the way we experience a space.
Visitors can also experience this year’s Designer of the Year showcase celebrating LRNCE, the Marrakech-based studio founded by Laurence Leenaert and Ayoub Boualam, whose distinctive collection of furniture, ceramics, textiles and interiors reflects a contemporary interpretation of Moroccan craftsmanship.
LRNCE
Beyond the exhibitions, 100% Design Africa continues to blur the lines between design, hospitality, and culture. The Good Table offers an immersive dining destination where food, interiors, and materiality come together, while The Social Library reimagines the traditional show bar as a space for conversation, creativity, and culinary discovery.
Adding an international perspective, Design Week Lagos presents a dedicated showcase, while the winning projects from this year’s AIDA Awards highlight some of the most exciting work emerging across architecture, interiors, product, lighting, fashion, and visual design.
Together with the Future Talks programme, which brings leading designers, architects, curators, and creatives together for daily CPD-accredited discussions, 100% Design Africa offers far more than a traditional exhibition. It is a place to discover new ideas, meet the people shaping the industry, and experience the remarkable breadth of contemporary African design under one roof.
