Inova Contracts: Pedrali
Synonymous with luxurious comfort, high-end Italian furniture designer, Pedrali, unveiled its new collections with Inova Contracts in an ethereal and dreamlike environment defined by transparencies and characterised by the skilful use of colour and lightweight materials at Salone del Mobile recently.
Titled #PedraliColoursofLightness, Pedrali’s booth, designed by DWA Design Studio showcased eleven new collections for indoor and outdoor spaces, including novel collections and extensions of existing collections.
“The entire space concretises as a pure architectural volume, covering over 900 sqm, crafted with a textile gauze in celestial blue colour that allows visitors to glimpse and perceive the interior of the stand,” explains Pedrali of the design. “To enhance the idea of lightness, a fabric veil hangs from the ceiling, seemingly responding to the motion of the air, like floating sails moved by the wind. This veil creates an almost transparent ceiling with a cerulean hue that, through a delicate interplay of layers, imparts an architectural rhythm to the area. Simultaneously, it conveys the environment a cosy and almost enchanted atmosphere.”
“In order to pursue the sustainable philosophy that has always guided the company, attention was paid to the selected materials, the optimisation of raw material consumption, resource rationalisation, material reuse/recycling, and disassemblability in the design phase of the stand. This translated into emptying the space of superfluous elements, reducing it to the essential. Furthermore, all elements used within the stand were designed to be disassembled and reused, thereby maximising the durability and sustainability.”
Consisting of seven settings, the display included bold designs such as the Twiny range of indoor and outdoor rugs made from cord obtained by weaving a polypropylene yarn, designed in collaboration with DWA Design Studio, new lounge and sofa versions of Lamorisse, Héra Soft armchairs, designed by Patrick Jouin, Caementum coffee tables by Marco Merendi & Diego Vencato, in a new glossy finish, and Rizz, Philía, a brand new outdoor seating collection designed by Odo Fioravanti, and Rizz, a new table designed by Robin Rizzini. This year’s novelty is Nolita Relax – a generous-sized armchair that maintains the lines and design of the collection, to evoke the origins of the brand begun by Mario Pedrali way back in 1963 with his first metal garden chairs.
Elegantly embodying Pedrali’s values of craftsmanship, factory technology and sustainability, each design serves as a source of inspiration for not only more stylish but also more sustainable living.
Pedrali is locally available at Inova Contracts, a local stockist of design-led furniture for discerning South African buyers.
