Jozi Lighting Opens the Door to a New Era of Architectural Lighting
Lighting has the power to transform a space, shaping not only how it looks, but also how it feels and functions. As one of South Africa’s leading destinations for architectural lighting, Jozi Lighting has earned a reputation for combining exceptional products with expert advice and personalised service.
With the opening of its beautiful new showroom, the company is taking the next exciting step in its journey, creating an inspiring destination where homeowners, architects, interior designers and industry professionals can explore innovative lighting solutions in a welcoming environment. The new space reflects Jozi Lighting’s commitment to helping clients bring their lighting visions to life, from concept and planning through to product selection and installation.
In this exclusive interview, Brendon Bester shares the inspiration behind the new showroom, reflects on Jozi Lighting’s remarkable growth, discusses the latest trends shaping residential and commercial lighting, and reveals how the company is continuing to redefine the lighting experience for South Africa’s design community.
1. Congratulations on the opening of your beautiful new showroom. What inspired the move, and what can visitors expect from this new space that sets it apart?
Brendon Bester:
As our brand grew over the last few years, we noticed a significant increase in clients wanting to visit our showroom. Whether they were collecting orders or needed assistance with lighting layouts and product selection, it became clear that our customers needed a more central location that was both convenient and welcoming.
My vision was to create a beautiful, comfortable space where clients could sit down with our team, plan their projects, and execute their ideas with the right guidance the first time.
2. Jozi Lighting has built a reputation for exceptional architectural lighting solutions. How has the company evolved over the years, and what continues to drive your vision today?
Brendon Bester:
Jozi Lighting began as a modest lighting shop serving the small town of Henley on Klip, with a vision of becoming a leading brand in the e-commerce lighting space. By focusing on exceptional service and competitive pricing, we addressed many of the common pain points shared by our customers.
Because we listened, we experienced exceptionally rapid growth. This enabled Jozi Lighting to scale its operations and expand its offering, providing even more solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients.
3. Lighting plays a vital role in shaping the atmosphere and functionality of a space. What are some of the biggest lighting trends you’re seeing in residential and commercial design at the moment?
Brendon Bester:
We’re definitely seeing growing interest in glass pendants, particularly alabaster designs, which are making a strong comeback. We’ve also seen a significant increase in requests for custom-made lighting.
High-end clients are always looking for something unique and distinctive. We enjoy taking those ideas from concept to design and ultimately delivering a finished product that is both functional and beautiful.
4. The new showroom showcases a carefully curated range of lighting solutions. Can you tell us about some of the standout collections or innovative products that visitors should look out for?
Brendon Bester:
We’ve embraced the use of glass throughout the showroom, highlighting customer favourites alongside many of our current best-selling products. We collaborate with trusted suppliers including Spazio, K Light and Eurolux, giving our clients access to many of the industry’s most popular lighting collections.
At the same time, we’re expanding our offering with more exclusive ranges sourced from international brands and talented local artisans, ensuring visitors will always discover something distinctive.
5. Looking ahead, what does this new showroom represent for Jozi Lighting, and what exciting plans or developments can customers, designers and architects expect from the company in the future?
Brendon Bester:
Our move has already sparked tremendous interest, introducing a diverse new clientele to the Jozi Lighting brand. Being closer to both our customers and suppliers has allowed us to elevate our service levels even further, making us a brand to be reckoned with.
Alongside our new showroom and newly launched website, we are now offering services specifically tailored to architects and interior designers, rather than concentrating purely on our retail store and e-commerce platform. From lighting layouts and product sourcing to custom manufacturing and special imports, we are here to help bring every lighting vision to life.
Looking Ahead
The opening of Jozi Lighting’s new showroom marks an exciting chapter for the growing South African lighting specialist. More than simply a retail destination, the space reflects the company’s commitment to collaboration, innovation and personalised service. As demand continues to grow from homeowners, architects and interior designers alike, Jozi Lighting is positioning itself as a trusted partner in delivering bespoke architectural lighting solutions that combine technical expertise with inspired design. With an expanding product offering, dedicated design support and a passion for creating exceptional spaces, the future looks exceptionally bright for the Jozi Lighting team.
