Kartell x Liberty: Timeless Italian Design Meets Iconic British Prints

Some collaborations feel perfectly matched from the outset. Bringing together Kartell’s pioneering approach to contemporary furniture with Liberty’s celebrated textile heritage, the new Kartell x Liberty collection is a meeting of two brands united by a shared passion for craftsmanship, innovation and enduring design.

First unveiled during Milan Design Week, the limited-edition collection draws inspiration from the colours and atmosphere of the Italian Riviera, where Mediterranean landscapes meet Liberty’s unmistakable botanical prints in a series of furniture, fabrics and home accessories that celebrate the art of living beautifully.

At the heart of the collection is Portofino, a fresh interpretation of Liberty’s iconic Chile Palm print. Reimagined in a calming sage green and paired with Kartell’s sculptural T-Table, the design captures the lush gardens and gentle palette of the Gulf of Portofino, bringing a relaxed Mediterranean elegance into contemporary interiors.

The collaboration also introduces a distinctive new version of Philippe Starck’s H.H.H. (Her Highest Highness) chair. Crafted from Kartell’s innovative 2.0 polycarbonate, the chair is dressed in Liberty’s intricate floral patterns, creating a striking balance between advanced manufacturing and decorative artistry.

“This new partnership is the logical result of both parties having a rich history on which to draw, enjoying a reputation for innovation, beauty and elegance in their respective areas, and having the same ability to create a uniquely transversal lifestyle,” says Lorenza Luti, Marketing and Retail Director at Kartell.

Beyond the furniture, the partnership extends to an exclusive collection of indoor and outdoor textiles designed for some of Kartell’s best-loved pieces, including the Pop Sofa, Trix Pouf and Cara Armchair. Liberty’s archival Patricia and Artemis prints have been reimagined in bespoke colourways and larger scales, giving the familiar florals a fresh, contemporary energy.

Reflecting on the creative process, Mary-Ann Dunkley, Liberty’s Design Director – Product & Fabrics, explains: “From the beginning, we were determined to pay homage to the design classic by incorporating intricate, hand-drawn motifs whilst respecting the structural aspects of Philippe Starck’s design. We imagined lush foliage to intertwine seamlessly with the furniture, where Liberty prints would climb over the pieces, creating a flourishing garden of vibrant colour.”

The result is a collection that feels effortlessly at home across contemporary, classic and eclectic interiors alike. Rich in colour, craftsmanship and character, Kartell x Liberty is a celebration of two creative legacies brought together through a shared appreciation for timeless design.
